In 2006 on Apple MacBookPro with final cut pro I created 1 h. 10 min. film: I edited together story bords that I made with Korean illustrator William Kim.

-We love woman....- saying Sergei Selyanov in interview about how he became famous Russian producer. I'm one of them. One more brick in his way to be a star. Now he is shooting movie with Bodrov in Japan. And me still wondering why didn't I get even paid after signing my contract with Sergei Selyanov? This is Russian way of Producing movie. Bodrov Jr. is another Brick. And American actor who came to the set of Balabanov's film "American" and got depressed and started drinking...as well. Young girl actress from Balabanov's film About North - another brick. I wonder why if someone kills a person not in the movie set - they have to go to jail and if I director like Balabanov - kills so many people on the different sets - he gets money for another film. Also after what Selyanov did to me - sent me to "look for another bottom" (4 years in Strip club) - now he hangs up the phone when I call....

Yesterday I spent evening with a family of very famous director from Ashabat (Turkmenistan) and he and his DP, his wife and 2 daughters we watched my documentary and all other work I did Last semester. They really liked it. And they showed me a new film that they just finished about earthquake in Ashhabat in 1953. It's unbelievable. They made more then two hours movie with huge amount of extras and real earthquake (they really crushed buildings and houses) for $800 000. And it's on 35 mm and looks beautiful. The uncle of a director (his name is Murat Aliev) is a president of Turkmenistan. That's why they could crush everything they wanted. I think it's very funny. Very impressive. And they such a nice simple people. They where drinking vodka and having good family. Very open hearted people. And next week I'll have screening at Russian highest courses of cinematography and screenwriting in Moscow. Very-very old famous Russian director (Meta) will look at my work. Well, now I have to go to "Mosfilm"- studio in Moscow to see the editing of Murat's film. They doing a new cut, because the president of Turkmenistan didn't like some moments. Isn't it weird?

In Moscow is very hot this days! To get to Moscow I have to spend 2 hours by train. I don't drive here.

This we shot on location in Saint Petersburg in 2004. From the beginning things went wrong: Sergei Selyanov didn't want to use the camera man I had promise to work with, Ed Lochman. Sergei thought it would cost too much money to invite him for 10 000$ to Russia. (Usually he cost much more!) I thought it was ok because he wanted to come and make my movie. He waited for us to make a decision until the last minute. Sergei said "No". So I had to work with Russian camera man, Sergei Astahov, but he was calling my movie - a movie about prostitutes. And it was wrong. But after ten years of thinking about it every single day full time. And hoping to make my movie, I was really happy to start. And also I needed to finish my book.

Ну что же. Вот и конец истории с СТВ: Прошло 5 лет с начала съемок в Питере "Последнего поезда со станции Роппонги". Как вы помните - денег от Госкино Сергей Михайлович не получил. Нашла я уже и инвесторов на фильм, сняла фильм короткий, как просил меня сделать Сергей Михайлович Сельянов, сомневаясь в моих режиссерских способностях. Звоню, говорю: ну что "Последний поезд со станции Роппонги" делать то будем?" - "Не будем, говорит. Делай. Приду, говорит на премьеру." Нормально? А кто пригласит-то? Ведь кино сначала надо сделать.

Вот и вся история: Если Сергей Михайлович Сельянов - ведущий Российский продюссер - В России кино-продюссеров нет.

Последний поезд со станции Роппонги

Сценарий повествует о судьбе русской девушки, решившей заработать денег в Японии в качестве «клубной девушки», что отдаленно, наверное, можно сравнить с российским вариантом «элитного сопровождения».
Однако сюжетную линию проследить весьма сложно, чередование временных планов и повторы порой совершенно одинаковых ситуаций, даже если автор делает это сознательно, затрудняют восприятие. Речь идет о многочисленных японских мужчинах, с которыми девушки общаются. Так как основным мотивом для главной героини являются все же деньги, и благодаря внешне скромному поведению героиня пользуется популярностью у клиентов, в душе у девушки образуется некий вакуум. Инстинктивно, как всякой женщине, ей хочется любви, но уже сложно понять, что же это такое – любовь, какая она и возможна ли вообще? И встает все тот же банальный вопрос: все ли определяют деньги? Получишь одно, но потеряешь другое, возможно, более важное. Невозвратимо искорежится душа, потеряется вера в любовь и так далее. Возможно, автор определит как-то иначе общий смысл своего замысла, но этот смысл, этот посыл (месидж) должен быть понятен и читающему сценарий и тем более зрителю.
Данный сценарий как бы находится на грани между жанровым и авторским кино. Но даже если речь идет об авторском кино, и тем более, если именно об авторском кино, необходима определенная доработка сюжета в этом направлении. Возможно, стоит продумать более динамичный сюжет, повторы не создают того впечатления и настроения и состояния, которое автор пытался добиться. (То есть большое количество японских мужчин, ведущих себя, несмотря на разницу в возрасте, социальном и финансовом положении и даже некоторые детали, позволяющие отличить их друг от друга, которые осознанно автор «прописывает» для создания атмосферы вокруг героини, – не работает). То, что все кажется одинаковым – не производит должного эффекта. (Боюсь, что можно сформулировать, что все японцы для нас также будут на одно лицо). Видимо, нужно избрать другой путь. Другие средства для создания того впечатления на зрителя, которое хочет добиться автор.
Если автора отчасти вдохновил фильм «Дьявол носит «Прада», где ставиться тот же извечный философский вопрос: предавать ли себя, что выбрать: власть и деньги или же любовь, то этот американский фильм, естественно, жанровый, там весьма крепко сплетенный сюжет.
Сюжет нужен и для авторского кино, у каждого героя также должна быть какая-то цель, которую он пытается достичь, пусть порой даже и неосознанно, скрывая ее за ложными целями, или же в ходе действия герой понимает, что его выбор был неправильным, его цель не оправдывает тех усилий, которые он приложил. И Лера, и другие девушки должны как-то отличаться друг от друга, не быть столь похожими и даже аморфными. Кто-то плывет по течению, кто-то пытается с этим бороться.
Как уже говорилось, сложно воспринимается перескакивание с одного временного плана в другой (2000, 1995, 1993 год).
Так и неясным оказывается то, что у героини возникло с Нори. Видимо, героиня хотела бы, чтобы ее любили «не за деньги», так же как и Моги этого хочет, что, по сути, то же самое, но насколько это осознает сама героиня? Или «игра в любовь» заменила ей реальные отношения и она не может уже отличить одно от другого?
Насколько отличаются своеобразные обычаи Японии в отношении мужчин и женщин от отношений, допустим, в России? Хуже это или лучше? Честнее или противнее? Ведь одну из девушек эти своеобразные правила устроили. Она их приняла?
Фильм не отвечает на многие эти вопросы, поэтому и сюжетные коллизии кажутся недостаточно обоснованными, как будто возникшими на пустом месте, то есть не хватает психологической достоверности.
Диалоги написаны живым, современным языком, но из-за слишком частого повторения одних и тех же мотивов, а также в силу общей затянутости сценария они воспринимаются как некая монотонная жвачка. Финал кажется скомканным.

При существенной переработке этот материал можно было бы использовать для создания глубоко драматичного авторского фильма.

It's funy to see how the person who wrote the letter doesn't understand, that he (or she) understood exectly everything, but can't accept it. It say a lot about situation with cinema in Russia today. By the way, I wrote my script many years before "DEVIL WEARS PRADA".

This one scene I made 1998 for one of my classes in a film school. We needed to do a scene from our Dream movie. It was way before I wrote script "Last train from Roppongi". Or a book "Last train from Roppongi" was published.
